Grand Opening!

Wednesday February 18th was the Grand Opening for Pita Jungle.  Previously this week I handed out invitations to this event.  During the day on Wednesday I had a list of things to do.  Some of the jobs I had to do was picking up things needed for the event.  I went to Anton Sports to pick up tank tops that said Pita Jungle on them. When I arrived at Anton Sports I was immediately helped by more than one person. The service there was great and they made me feel comfortable. They got the shirts and the bill for me to give to Joe.  They wished us luck for the opening later on.  Then I was off to pick up a media wall from Blue Media.  Again I had received great service. At Blue Media they helped me load the media wall into my car.  Since everything went so well I will keep these companies in mind for future references.  

I met Joe and Lhena at the restaurant an hour before the opening began.  When I got there it was already busy which was a great sign.  We had planned to have a red carpet entrance, a media wall for photos and a DJ come in but last minute corporate did not want that for the image of their restaurant so we canceled the red carpet, the DJ and the media wall stayed in my car.  I felt bad for the owners of the restaurant because they wanted the DJ, red carpet, and the media wall but I do understand corporate wanting to keep their image.  Since we had to cancel the carpet, media wall and the DJ we did not have much to set up. We mingled with others and ate their humus which was very good! I met a lot of people that night that which is good for networking. All in all the restaurant was packed the whole night long which was the ultimate goal. I was able to network and the restaurant was able to promote and had a successful night of business!  

Handing out invitations!

All day Monday and Tuesday the 17th I handed out 100's of invitations for the Grand Opening of a restaurant near Desert Ridge.  I picked up the invites and went around the restaurant to hand them out to those who live in the area.  I went into just about all the stores at Desert Ridge, City North and Kierland Commons.  It was a lot of work and exhausting!! The shops were very busy on Monday the 16th for holiday sales which was good for me because I was able to hand out a lot of invites that day.  I also handed out invites at the offices near the Pita restaurant.  We wanted to let everyone know the restaurant was there because it is kind of hidden in a strip mall a ways off of Tatum Blvd.  We also wanted to invite those who live in the area to the Grand opening party that was held on the 18th of February.  Joe my supervisor had me tell him where I was located and he wanted to know the reactions of those I invited.  Most of those who worked in the Desert Ridge Shops were excited about the opening and had great things to say about the food.  I had one person say that they had been there the night before and was very excited about the opening on Wednesday.  Most of those who worked in the near by area City North were not familiar with the location off of Tatum.  I told them about the restaurant and the location and many seemed interested.  It was important to Joe and the owners of the restaurant to give them feedback of how people reacted.  Cant wait for the opening! It will be exciting and a lot of work! 

News Segment!

Monday morning the 9th of February I helped Joe out with  news segment for one of his clients.  We were doing a short news segment for a boutique shop in North Scottsdale.  We had to be ready to go at 8:30 in the morning.  The boutique was clean and ready to go for a shoot.  We waited for the models to show up and then found outfits for them.  The manager of the store was the one choosing the outfits and accessories for the models.  She was very nice and easy to work with.  The news anchor was running a little bit behind schedule because she had to do a short segment about the weather.  It was cloudy outside and it looked like it might rain.  A technician guy was at the boutique setting up all the equipment for the news segment and he was the one who new what time the anchor was going to be arriving.  It almost got canceled because of the weather! The anchor showed up and we went through one really short and quick run through and then they filmed it! And they only filmed it once! The manager of the boutique was advertising a sale for the store.  She also was focusing on Valentines Day and some great outfits to wear for a date or out with friends. These outfits were shown by the models. The manager also showed some great gift ideas for Valentines Day as well.  This news segment was a great way to advertise the boutique! Not only did they get the word out about the sale but they also had great ideas for gifts and let others know about the boutique and where it is located.  Over all the news segment was a success! 

After  the news segment was over I could not believe how fast they have to film! They show up on site and within 5 minutes they are shooting live and then 5 minutes later they are on their way to the next segment! Being a news anchor seems like it would be a stressful job and exhausting! They have to think fast, move fast, and do it with energy and a smile on their face! After seeing what they have to do I do not think I would enjoy being a news anchor! 

Researching!

Joe my supervisor has me do a lot of research.  Some of my assignments have been researching production companies out in Connecticut.  Joe wanted me to find a production company to rent things from and help set up and take down as well.  Last week Joe had a meeting with owners of a restaurant out in LA.  They are thinking of opening up their restaurant here in Phoenix and if they do they want Joe to represent the restaurant. 

Other projects that I have been working on include creative ideas.  Joe wanted me to come up with a creative idea for a lounge in North Scottsdale.  I had an idea of trying to come up with a creative event for a Valentines day evening and weekend getaway.  Since this lounge is located in a resort  I thought it would be great to promote a weekend getaway package with a good room rate and a free drink or discount at the lounge.  Also for this event I researched a lot of jazz bands, blues-rock bands and some acoustic guitar players in the Phoenix area.  We thought it would be nice to have some live music playing.  

In doing this process of researching it is a crucial step in any company.  Researching is critical because if we use a production company to rent things from and count on them for set up and take down and it does not go well, the event could be ruined or severely hurt.  For example J Group uses pacific events to set up and take down the staging for fashion shows.  If the staging is not set up in time it would hurt the fashion show greatly.  So this means that researching quality companies or bands is very crucial for the events we hold.
